What Jason Mraz is saying in the song:
In the song
“I´m yours” Jason Mraz is talking about love, possession and freedom
He talks
about love as regards the kind of love you keep towards a lover. Love between two
people in a couple.
But he also
talks about LOVE in a broader sense: love between all members of the world.
Related to
what love is, he says that our destiny is to love and to be loved, and that
this is the right time to do that. That is why he suggests “do not hesitate”.
On the
other hand, he talks about POSSESSION. He has christened the song “I´M YOURS”.
But it is in fact a paradox, because through the lyrics we can observe that he
is against all possessions. He says “open up your plans, you are free”.
All of that
lead us to the third concept: FREEDOM.
He says that if we reflect upon what we are,
we can find freedom inside our heart.
In conclusion: Since we are humans, we are utterly
free, we should not possess anyone or be
possessed by anyone. But our fate is to
love and through it, through this
feeling of love, somebody (free) will
be ours and we will belong to our lover.
